What We Believe
Distinctive Truths
Seventh-day Adventists are a part of a global church numbering over 13 million members who share certain common beliefs. Our heritage and belief in a personal God, a personal Savior Jesus Christ, the Spirit-directed life, and the inspiration of the Bible link us with most Protestant faiths. God has led us to discover certain distinctive truths that are unique and provide us with our mission.
The Seventh-Day Sabbath
We believe God intended man to receive the blessing of worshipping him on the seventh-day of the week as He commanded. (Exodus 20:8-11)
The State of the Dead
We believe God desires to shelter us from fear and uncertainty by telling us that man's condition in death is unconscious sleep until the resurrection at the second coming of Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
The Second Coming
We believe God is presently at work earnestly preparing a people to stand righteously before Him at the literal and visible return of Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)
Wholistic Living
We believe God created this world and desires us to give due respect to His creation by taking care of our health, our environment, and our fellow man. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Religious Liberty
We believe God only values worship given from free choice and thus we respect the religious liberties of all. (Philippians 1:5-19)
The Christian Home
We believe in the integrity of the home. Harmony, love, and fellowship in the home should be the first priority following our commitment to God. (Colossians 3:18-21)
Christian Education
We believe in Christian education. As such we have established a worldwide network of elementary through post-graduate schools for our children. (Deuteronomy 4:9-14)
Stewardship
We believe God delights in blessing those who demonstrate faith in Him. Therefore, we seek to become good stewards of the time, talents and money He gives us. (Matthew 25:14-30)
The Gift of Prophecy
We believe God has been in communication with His people all through the ages, giving them vital information needed for their time. He continues to do this in our age through the prophetic gifts. (Ephesians 4:8-13)
World Mission
We believe God has given His church the mission of spreading the "good news" about Him to the entire world. (Matthew 24:14)
Salvation
We believe the good news of salvation from sin in that God is eager to forgive our sins. He is also ready to remove the cause of sin from life, making possible the God-like life. (2 Peter 1:1-11)

Our Fundamental Beliefs
Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the Protestant conviction Sola Scriptura—the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians.
Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.
